Authentic Material, a manufacturer of natural materials, has developed an exceptional material made exclusively from powdered leather scraps: Pierre de Cuir.
The result of several years of research, obtained through the action of heat and pressure alone, this new material is not only an illustration of the potential that lies in these leather scraps, but also a singular vocabulary for designers:
the company has collaborated with several designers, including Laurence Saugé, to create innovative works in Pierre de Cuir....
"Microscopically, the grains of matter agglomerate, creating a new surface, smooth and shiny. Meanwhile, on the surface of the water, lenses multiply and play with the observer as he searches for his reflection."
To create an object that is both highly decorative and useful, I proposed a mirror that takes up the idea of powder agglomeration at the heart of the process, but also the image that is dear to me of plant nature multiplying and spreading, with the evocation of duckweed.
